Day 5: Monroe, Wisconsin

Chipotle is rapidly becoming my taste of home on this trip. I accompanied B&C to Legoland, which turned out to be geared for 2-12 year olds. Nonetheless, we had a good time, and were en route to Minnesota by lunchtime.

We stopped by Brennan’s Market and the Alp & Dell store in Monroe, Wisconsin, to sample their famous cheeses. They certainly did not disappoint, and we ended up leaving the stores with cherry chipotle cheddar, Van Gogh Gouda, Swiss beef jerky, and a few boxes of crackers each. We also got to witness the cheese factory inside the Alp & Dell, and ate a good portion of their samples.

Ben had a good time with the chocolate.

We were almost in Minnesota when we were hit with a torrential thunderstorm. Visibility was down to about 30 feet, and it was all we could do to stay on the road. Thankfully the cloudburst ended within the hour, and it was all dairy farms until we stopped in Bloomington, Minnesota for the night.
